FAQ
What if I still have coverage from my manufacturer? No problem. You can still purchase coverage with DriveTrust. You’ll even save money by purchasing a protection plan earlier than later, since the cost of extended warranties goes up along with the age and mileage of your vehicle.
How do I know which plan is best for me? It really comes own to three things: cost, age and driving habits. For lower costs, you’ll want to purchase a plan when there are less miles on your vehicle. You’ll also want to consider your yearly mileage expenditure and how long you’re planning on retaining the car in order to determine the most appropriate option.
Does my car have to be new? Absolutely not. DriveTrust provides coverage for both new and used vehicles. In fact, if your used vehicle is under a certain mileage, you may qualify for a new vehicle warranty.
What if my manufacturer’s warranty has already passed its expiration date? You can purchase a plan with DriveTrust whenever you’d like, regardless of the status of your manufacturer’s warranty. However, your plan will be more expensive the higher your mileage, so best to act as early as possible.
If I decide to sell my car, can my plan transfer to the new owner? Yes. Having an extended warranty increases your car’s value and may even help you sell it faster.
How is a warranty different from a vehicle service contract or a product policy? A warranty, which you get from the manufacturer of your car, is a guarantee that they will pay for the labor or replacement of any faulty parts, should they break down. These typically last a few years into your contract. When the warranty expires, you have the option of purchasing a vehicle service contract from another company. Like an insurance company, they take on the expense of fixing or replacing covered parts, as well as labor. Your terms are usually based on your car’s make, model and mileage. Another option is a product policy, in which specific car parts are covered. This type of contract is better for older vehicles that may require more specialized maintenance. Should a breakdown occur due to a failure of one of these parts, the product policy will cover it. Otherwise, the car owner pays out of pocket.
Do you sell factory warranties, or are you affiliated with them in any way? DriveTrust is an independent broker who works with coverage professionals, not vehicle manufacturers. That way, we are able to offer you protection once your manufacturer’s warranty runs out.
What do your plans cover? Our plans cover repairs and replacement of covered components, as well as all associated fees. We also include Seals and Gaskets coverage in all of our plans.
What about after-market components? Unfortunately, our plans do not cover any items installed on your vehicle subsequent to purchase. We provide coverage only for components installed in the factory.
Do I get to choose where to go for repairs? As long it’s licensed, you may bring your vehicle for services at the repair facility of your choice, including dealerships, neighborhood repair shops and national chains.
How do I know that DriveTrust’s warranties are reliable? Not only are all of our warranties insured by reputable companies, but our coverage is valid at any repair facility nationwide. It is our job to provide you with all-inclusive coverage that fits your needs, no matter what plan you choose.
